The main difference between a gunite pool and a vinyl liner pool lies in their construction and materials.
A gunite pool is made of a mixture of cement, sand, and water, which is sprayed onto a rebar framework to create the pool's shape. The sprayed material is then smoothed and finished with a layer of plaster. Gunite pools offer a lot of flexibility in terms of design and can be made in various shapes and sizes. They are also highly durable and long-lasting.
On the other hand, a vinyl liner pool is constructed by excavating a hole in the ground and then installing a pre-fabricated frame made of steel, aluminum, or polymer. A vinyl liner is then placed over the frame, and the pool is filled with water. Vinyl liner pools are generally less expensive than gunite pools, and the vinyl liner provides a smooth surface that is gentle on feet and hands. However, the liners can be prone to punctures and tears, and they typically need to be replaced every 3-5 years.
In summary, gunite pools offer more design flexibility and durability, while vinyl liner pools are less expensive upfront and provide a smooth surface.
